The Premier League is the 20-team top division of English football and is the most-watched football competition in the world. The season runs from August until May. The Premier League was founded in 1992 following a breakaway of the biggest teams in the country to form their own top flight. Manchester United have won the title the most times, with 13.
Three points are awarded for a win, one point for a draw and no points for a loss. If teams are level on points then they are separated by goal difference. If the teams are still level, they will then be separated by goals scored.
The Premier League has two cup competitions attached to it; the League Cup and the FA Cup. The League Cup begins in September with the final in February. Premier League teams join the FA Cup in January, with the final taking place in May.
